I cannot sleep anymore. I think I was never meant to sleep, at least not when sociably acceptable. Lately I have found my heart rapidly beating whenever I even attempt to rest while my head forces me to think of all possible responsibilities I might have currently, and even some from the past that I trick myself into thinking still exist, until I finally pass out cuddling my laptop after watching Home Movies until 5 am. I've started thinking in Brendon Small's voice.

The newest possible choices of where I will put on a stage production of my near future:
1. Portland, or other locations of Oregon, USA: Location of my birth, my father's birth, and also mountains and rain (two things I adore.)
2. Vancouver, Canada: Location of Vancouver Film School, Canadians, and Degrassi.
3. North Carolina: Relatively close to my home, is rumored to have somewhat appealing beaches, and maybe some cats.
4. Pittsburgh, PA: I can't even start with this one, I might vomit.

I haven't gone to film class in 1.5 weeks.

I am making my sister who lives in North Hollywood a card I will send to her in the mail. I think I have resorted to doing things I would never ever do in order to distract myself from these uncomfortably familiar feelings that my nostalgia-obsessed subconscious has been pumping into my blood for this past week. My heart beats so fast every day and the edges of my vision are blurry and I have stopped noticing when I move from one room to another.

Destroyer is the soundtrack to my love affair with the city of Pittsburgh.
Maybe? He is the soundtrack of many things.

Pittsburgh is still a huge part of me, bursting from my subconscious into my dreams filling me up with nostalgic displacement. I've discovered this recently and came to the conclusion that I could never permanently exist there and establish my identity in this city, but rather it exists as my rabbit hole, a place I could escape to on the weekends, living a secret life without any concern for others while existing as an entirely different person every time, coming back each time full of secrets my real home could never know.

What is your secret city?

Saturday was orange. We avoided this color by writing words, names and letters in Chelsea's sketchbook and in return it told me my future. I spent the rest of my day with my mother.

Guy Maddin makes the most impressive trailers.
I spent my Friday adding to a long list of films I want to see in my future! Some of them are: Interkosmos, My Winnipeg, Ivanovo Detstvo, Liquid Sky, and Satyricon! I am very interested in Fellini and Andrei Tarkovsky because I haven't had much experience with them at all and their films look beautiful and surreal. Tell me your opinions of these films if you have seen them, I want to know!

I was so happy to see my parents; they fed me my favorite Japanese dish in Knoxville, let me in stand in chairs inside fancy coffee shops, and were patient when I got us all incredibly lost.

After I made it home, Anna and I watched Le Ballon Rouge and videos on youtube of people playing "Death is the Road to Awe" on the piano and cried out in anguish about how we will never be able to live the film "The
Fountain".

This is the day I wake up early and have no idea who/where I am only to realize hours later that in that one scene where Stephan spots the police outside of the window and turns around- IT IS NOT HIS FACE. It is instead someone wearing an obscene Stephan mask-like image over his face. This, naturally, threw Chelsea and I into a state of hysteria.

Last night, after discussing our relationship in a one minute journey to my apartment, Z and I pinky promised on the fact that we are, in fact, best friends and there is no reason to poo on that and continued by discussing our favorite episodes of Rocko's Modern Life. And this time the facebook statuses were changed without me having to go sit in the empty bathtub with my roommate for an hour, using the shower curtain to wipe my face. I am pleased to be saving his seat in film class today.

Hello! Since it is the very first day of what I consider to be fall, I became super-charged with internet bravery and decided to introduce myself to everyone. I'm Laura, born a ginger in Portland, Oregon where I believed I was Peter Pan; lived in Nashville for several years where I walked over Broadway every day of my life; moved to Pittsburgh for about five months in a world full of giant cupcakes, church steps, and where Friday nights were spent either underground or on Cathedral rooftops, and am now located in Knoxville where everything is rust colored and tea flavored. My life is made up of movies, photographs, foods, frriieendss and foes(!), poops and pees, fire alarms, ghosties and babies in slow motion on youtube, sometimes musics, curtains that are incredibly difficult to open, and taking every opportunity to frighten myself. Sometimes I ride my bike, but mostly that was only this summer. I like kittens, cheese toast, posting pictures on the internet and writing about them and when I manage to open the curtains.

But now I have to pee.
